Ananda Villa, Koh Tao, is only a short hop from Singapore but it feels a long way from the manicured urbanism of Lion City. I was given the upper corner room which overlooks the ocean and the chic Breeze cafe/restaurant. It is very clean, spacious and well maintained and reasonably priced. Noise was not an issue. There’s good wifi, and tea and coffee and a fridge are provided and a useful balcony to dry your dive gear. It is centrally located and a 2 min walk from the pier. It’s handy for the the dive shops, motorbike hire, 7/11, banks, supermarkets and drinking spots. I hired a motorbike to explore the quieter Chalok and visit a friends yoga retreat and then wizz over party-central Sairee. I’d say it was ideally suited to those diving at nearby centres and wanting a place to chillax after a day on the boat. There’s no pool but the ocean is on your doorstep.
